West Chester Growers Market hosts author
Bruce Mowday, author of West Chester and Johnston books, will also sign new Parkesburg book
West Chester PA -- Chester County author Bruce Mowday will sign his books at the West Chester Growers Market on Saturday, June 19, 2010. His books include the recently released Parkesburg book by Arcadia Publishing.
“The Growers Market is such a great part of life in the West Chester area,” Mowday said. “I’m honored to be allowed to participate on June 19. Two of my books deal directly with West Chester. One is a walking tour book and the other is pictorial history. The timing is perfect as it is the day before Fathers’ Day and my books make great gifts.”
The Growers Market begins at 9:00 a.m. and is located in the parking lot at Chestnut and Church streets, West Chester.
Mowday will also sign Jailing The Johnston Gang: Bringing Serial Murderers To Justice. Barricade Books of Fort Lee, N.J., released the book last year and it is in its third printing. The book tells story of the dedicated law enforcement officials that placed their own lives in danger to incarcerate brothers Bruce, David and Norman Johnston and their band of paid killers, rapists and thieves.
Chester County, Pennsylvania, District Attorney Joseph A. Carroll called the leader of the gang, Bruce A. Johnston, Sr., the most notorious criminal in the history of the suburban Philadelphia county. Johnston was convicted of six counts of first-degree murder but Mowday has uncovered information linking Johnston to 10 murders, one of them unsolved, including the ambush slaying of two Kennett Square, Pennsylvania., policemen.
Mowday’s West Chester: Six Walking Tours will be available. The book covers six tours, 75 sites and 157 stunning color photographs by photographer Rick Davis. Mowday has also authored pictorial history books for Arcadia publishing, West Chester, Coatesville, Downingtown, Mushroom Farming in Chester County and Along The Brandywine River. Two of his books, September 11, 1777: Washington’s Defeat Dooms Philadelphia and The Selling of an Author, were published by White Mane Publishing. Unlikely Allies: Fort Delaware’s Prison Community in the Civil War, was published by Stackpole Books.
