Doing It Right

The Hotel Astor in New Orleans (pictured at right) is a good example of what a very, very large structure looks like when using the guidelines and step-back requirements applied in downtown West Chester.

It is important to note that this hotel provides 707 rooms compared to the approximately 100 rooms plus condos proposed for hotels in downtown West Chester. However, the design features that include a step-back above the first five stories of this 14 story structure, along with the materials combatible with the historic nature of New Orleans, make this a successful example.
